Using Agile and Scrum to Retire Large, Complex Systems

Many companies encounter significant challenges when attempting to retire large, legacy systems. In addition to budget, resource and time constraints, older technologies—grafted with tentacles of functionality from years of unchecked user requests—can result in unwieldy systems requiring extensive review and assessment. Resistance to change can also account for failed efforts and the use of inefficient systems, long past their prime.
